How to beat Parkinson's Law of Time (seriously... I think I figured it out)

THE REAL DEAL DIGEST
Issue No. 3
Reader, you ever try “theme days”?
The concept is straightforward; nothing revolutionary. You simply structure your days so you focus on one goal for that day and nothing else.
I decided to give it a go this week.
And -with this email showing up 2 days late to your inbox- you might be able to predict how it’s going. 😬

...
...
...
And you would be WRONG.
Psych!
I’m actually loving it. I’ve had to tweak the days a bit, and yes, my newsletter IS going out late, but..
Who cares, right?
(Seriously. Did you care? Did you even notice until now? That's what I thought.)
What I’ve enjoyed about Theme Days so much (ooh, the italics make it feel like a TV show, that’s fun!) is that I don’t feel bad about putting off a task... because I’ve designated an entire DAY for each type of task.
In today's edition of The Real Deal Digest:
☀️ Why THEME DAYS might be the best thing that could ever happen to you
🏆 How to find wins when it feels like all you’re doing is losing
👩🏼🏫 A sneak peek of a new service I’m about to launch (er, launched?)
My Theme Days week isn't going exactly how I planned it, yet it's still turning out to be pretty damn amazing. Let me explain.
Here's how I *wanted* my Theme Days to go this week.
Exhibit A: Monday: Client work! All day!
Tuesday: Marketing Strategy! All day!
Wednesday: Client work! All day!
Thursday:Createcontent! All day!
Friday:Flexible Friday! Budgeting, personal to-dos, catch-up work! All day!
Aaaaaand here’s how it’s actually going (Exhibit B):
Monday: Client work! All day!
Tuesday: Marketing Strategy! All day!
Wednesday: Ummm… welllll… I had a referral group to go to in the morning… (8:00-9:15 am)
And then a 1:1 was already scheduled… (9:15-11:30am… oops, that went later than I thought..)
I still managed to get to the library to do client work (12:00-3:00pm), but then I couldn’t stay too long because I had to go home to let the dogs out…
I did. Me. It was me. I let the dogs out, Baha Men.
And because I didn’t get 8 hours of client work done like I wanted to, I knew I would have to save some of it for Thursday…
Which means my Content Day would be affected…
So I created content Wednesday night…
And caught up on client work today (Thursday).
SO.
Is my Theme Days week chef's kiss-perfecto?
Helllllll to the no.
But it does feel transformative.
It's creating structure and, most importantly, preventing me from context switching, which historically has been horrible for my brain (and my business).
So here it is, Thursday night. Technically “Content Day”, but just so we're clear... I’m not typing up this newsletter because it’s “Content Day.”
I’m typing it up because I told you -and myself- that The Real Deal Digest will show up in your inbox every Tuesday.
And YES, OKAY, YOU GOT ME. IT’S NOT TUESDAY.
But done is better than perfect, something is better than nothing, and if there’s one thing I’m trying to do more of in my business, it’s…
Consistency.
The week isn't over yet, but I gotta give the consistency cred to Theme Days.
That's why I'm calling this week a win. I challenge you to find some wins, too.
Even if the week didn't go according to your plan. 😘
Here’s to another week of Theme Days,

P.S. Did you miss last week's digest about how you're just like Jennifer Coolidge (and I can prove it)? Read it here.
P.P.S. I spent my Marketing Day/Tuesday crafting the skeleton of a new service. It's called a VIP Day, and while I'll be working on the sales page next Tuesday, you can click here to get the gist.

Bought this new CRM software as I ramp up my business (this is a referral link so if you end up getting it, I'll get some moola and you'll get 30% off):

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 13 It was wet, it was dark, and... It moved. Not exactly how I intended to spend my Friday night, but there I was. Staring down the cylindrical container of my Trader Joe's steel-cut oats. Beneath the opaque lid was a nest of weevils. Or so I can assume. I wasn't about to peel back the lid and confirm. I had enough confirmation from the dozens of weevils who had found their way in the dogs' water dish, on my hoodie, and on the kitchen floor that Friday...
The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 11 Ha! See what I did there? And if you didn't, I apologize... I don’t know when or why it happened, but over the last few years, I've welcomed the celeb drama and gossip into my life. Like even though I can name, uh... three? songs between Drake & Kendrick, I REALLY want to know where all this beef came from. (I still don't know what's going on, btw. Feel free to hit "Reply" and fill me in. 😬) I also want to know if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are a legit...
The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 10 Oooh, so much to say to you this week, but so little time to say it! Isn’t that a nice problem to have? A dozen ideas in your head and not knowing which one to focus on for your weekly email? If you just read that and thought, “Are you kidding me, Rachael? I would LOVE to have that problem!”... …then allow me to give you that problem. 😀 Just keep reading! In this week’s issue of The Real Deal Digest: 💭 A notes app that helps me keep track of all my email...
