Reflections, wins, blah blah blah...

THE REAL DEAL DIGEST

Issue No. 5

The chaos. The lines. The traffic.

(The food. 🤤)

Christmas is one week from today, and this advice keeps showing up in my feed:

Slow down to speed up.

So that’s what I decided to do with this week’s newsletter.

(Choose to read it slowly if you wish, for additional effect.)

In this week’s issue of The Real Deal Digest:

👏 Uncomfortable wins that shouldn’t be uncomfortable, I just have issues

🚀 The ULTIMATE (yes, that’s right I said it -ULTIMATE- and with a rocket emoji to boot) SECRET to copywriting that gives you conversions to make your jaw drop

✍️ The rule of 3, which I’m going to explain in this bullet point. You see, I don’t really have a third takeaway to write in this box, but when you’re writing lists, you want at least 3 bullet points. This also applies when you’re creating patterns in your copy and helps readers keep reading. I put this into practice in the first line of this newsletter. But did you notice? Unless you’re already a writer, probably not. But now that you're aware of this rule, you can find the two other times I follow this rule if you keep reading. Carry on!

This time of year encourages most of us to sit back and reflect on what the year has brought us. We’re encouraged to share our wins and look forward to new and exciting challenges for the following year.

This is good practice, but...

It’s hard sometimes, isn’t it?

I don’t know about you, but I have to be VERY conscious of my thoughts this time of year.

Maybe it’s my religious upbringing that told me I shouldn’t be proud of myself…

Or the years of classical music training, where one wrong note in the midst of the thousands I played perfectly is what I was encouraged to perseverate on…

Or perhaps there is something to astrology, and my perfectionist traits and cynical tendencies really are just a "Virgo thing”...

Whatever it is, I’m trying to beat the little devil on my shoulder into submission this week.

So here’s what we’re going to do, Reader. I’m going to celebrate my wins. Then I want you to hit “Reply” and share your wins with me.

(For real, ok??)

Got it?

Good.

*deep breaths*

Ok, here I am, pushing that discomfort aside. And here's those wins:

👏 I increased my revenue every quarter

👏 I wrote for 14 different brands

👏 In Q2, I re-wrote my website (and who are we kidding, I’ll re-write it again in 2025 as I gain more clarity on who and how I want to serve)

👏 In Q3, I let go of a client who I was not resonating with (it took me TOO long, tbh)

👏 In Q4, launched a new service two weeks ago and already sold two packages

👏 In Q4, I revitalized my Instagram account and grew my account from 175 (ish?) to 218 once I started posting more regularly

👏 In Q4, I started and grew this newsletter (and Kit tells me I have an average open rate of 87.25% - so thank you for being a fan! ♥️ 😍)

👏 I gained a LOT of confidence and am ready to take 2025 by storm

Now… sorry littleangelonmyshoulder, but I have to address one thing...

Those 14 brands I wrote for?

I was under an NDA for all but 4 of ‘em because, for the most part, I’ve been subcontracting or ghostwriting. 🙂

So, my main goal for 2025 is to get clients who I can directly work with because, selfishly, I LOVE strategizing with clients even more than I love writing.

It's true! I experience great joy when I help business owners gain more clarity in their messaging so they can expand their reach and find clients who are the right fit for them. It's an honor when I'm trusted with this process, and it feels AMAZING when I exceed their expectations!

I won’t bore you with the details, but when you have a good amount of customer data and properly do your research before writing a word of copy

Conversions increase like whoa. Just sayin'. 🤷🏼‍♀️

All right, I’ll stop geeking out on you now, but can I add one more thing before signing off?

Sharing your aspirations with others should be encouraged, not stifled.

*in Jerry Seinfled voice* Why is it that we're told to keep our birthday candle wishes a secret anyway?

You gotta manifest that shit which means you need to speak it out LOUD, mkay? The Universe can't hear you if you keep it in your head. 😉 (And if that still makes you nervous or it's too "woo" for you, then share your 2025 goals with me and I'll speak them out loud for you!)

And with that, my friend, I bid you adieu. If you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful holiday. If you’re missing any loved ones this season, I hope you find comfort in their memories. And if you’re just chilling these next few weeks while the rest of our capitalist society goes bonkers, I hope you get to chill to the max.

Oh! And one last thing: In order to slow down to speed up, I’m taking a break from this newsletter next week. I hope you give yourself some time off, too!

So until next year,

Rachael

P.S. Don’t forget to hit “Reply” and share your wins with me! I can’t wait to read them and celebrate with you!

P.P.S. If you’ve got some big business goals for 2025 and have some copy projects in mind, let's chat about it in 2025. (<-- Click/tap here to book a call so you don't forget!) No strings attached, I promise!

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 13 It was wet, it was dark, and... It moved. Not exactly how I intended to spend my Friday night, but there I was. Staring down the cylindrical container of my Trader Joe's steel-cut oats. Beneath the opaque lid was a nest of weevils. Or so I can assume. I wasn't about to peel back the lid and confirm. I had enough confirmation from the dozens of weevils who had found their way in the dogs' water dish, on my hoodie, and on the kitchen floor that Friday...

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 11 Ha! See what I did there? And if you didn't, I apologize... I don’t know when or why it happened, but over the last few years, I've welcomed the celeb drama and gossip into my life. Like even though I can name, uh... three? songs between Drake & Kendrick, I REALLY want to know where all this beef came from. (I still don't know what's going on, btw. Feel free to hit "Reply" and fill me in. 😬) I also want to know if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are a legit...

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 10 Oooh, so much to say to you this week, but so little time to say it! Isn’t that a nice problem to have? A dozen ideas in your head and not knowing which one to focus on for your weekly email? If you just read that and thought, “Are you kidding me, Rachael? I would LOVE to have that problem!”... …then allow me to give you that problem. 😀 Just keep reading!
