[π€ Speak Easy Society] THE EXPERIENCE
Published about 10 hours agoΒ β’Β 4 min read
Hi again!
(See? Told ya I'd be back! If you didn't see my earlier email about how to grab a ticket for Speak Easy Society, check your email inbox for something I sent around 11:30am earlier today, on 8/31.)
Anyway, I'm really excited to share a little more about how The Speak Easy Society is going to work.
Remember: I created this for the woman who wants to get on stage in a low-pressure, chill environment.
It's for those who know they have gifts to share, stories to tell, things to say...
But nowhere to say it.
This space is for you if you DON'T feel like being critiqued on your speaking skills or stage presence, thankyouverymuch.
And it's definitely for you if you are NOT interested in shriveling up on stage due to the fumbling of your words, losing your train of thought, or being thoroughly embarrassed.
At Speak Easy Society, you won't shrivel. Quite the opposite, in fact. That's because the entire ROOM is going to be full of encouraging women just like you β cheering you on, eager to hear what you have to say, and ready to support you.
β β
Okay, it won't be this intense. (OR WILL IT??! π)
Our theme for the first event is:
Letting Go.
And why a theme? Because it gives us all something to anchor into. It grounds the evening around a shared idea β so that as the night unfolds, our stories start to weave together seamlessly.
You'll most likely hear echoes of your own experience in someone else's words... which is such a beautiful moment to experience.
An evening theme creates this thread that connects all of us... and boy oh boy, do we need human connection now more than ever!
One of my favorite shirts ^
Now, here's how the evening breaks down, and how YOU can participate:
The First Hour: We Keep It Chill
This hour is for anyone who wants to keep it chill. No prep required, no script, no psyching yourself out beforehand. You just get up and... riff. Think of it as improvised storytelling β you can riff off the theme of the night, or if you want a little creative nudge, you can pick a word out of a hat and go from there.
It doesn't have to fit the theme perfectly (we are NOT about perfection at Speak Easy Society!) It just has to be you, in the moment, saying whatever comes up. This is your low-pressure, easy entry point to getting yer butt up on stage, holding a microphone, and sharing something with a crowd that's eager to hear it.
The Second Hour: We Go Deep
The second hour of the evening is for those of you who know exactly what you want to say. You've thought about it. Maybe you've practiced it a little. You're ready to go deeper, get a bit vulnerable, be playful, or maybe even a little messy.
And honestly, that's exactly what we want! These stories will tie into the evening's theme of Letting Go, and I also suspect this is where the night may hit a little different.
β βHow To Sign Up
Whether you sign up for the first hour or the second (or just come to listen and take it all in!), there's no wrong way to show up. (Just make sure to grab your ticket so you have a seat.)
π If the first hour sounds most like your jam, then you'll sign up when you get to the event. No pre sign-up required.
π If you'd like to sign up for the second hour, that requires you simply replying to this email with your name and your story/talk idea. I plan to have 5-7 slots available for the second hour and once they're filled up... they're filled up.
When: Tuesday, October 6th - 7-9pm
Where: Local Sound Collaborative 343 East Ave, Rochester, NY
Please please please let me know if you have any questions!

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 35 Estimated read time: 3-4 minutes When I think about the amount of money I've spent on courses, communities, cohorts, and one-off workshops or challenges, I want to throw up in my mouth a little. Not because they didn't provide insane value. Most of them ab-so-lutely did. Because before you (thought you) could go to AI to get all your answers to anything your heart desires... High-ticket courses were THE thing to grab if you wanted to up your game. I'm not...

A HUGE thanks to Ray and his team over at LSC, who said yes without hesitation and want to support this event. The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 34 Estimated read time: 4-5 minutes Us Rochester folk may not have any major league baseball, pro football or premium hockey teams playing inside our city, but boy do I love going to Rochester Red Wings games over the summer. (That's our Triple A baseball team.) Well, at least *I* used to love going to the Rochester Red Wings games. That all changed yesterday. YESTERDAY I LOST IT, Reader! I don't know if they got a new music director or what, but I don't...
