This word actually STOPS people from buying -->

Did you know there are certain words copywriters avoid using because they're considered "friction words"?

We don't talk about it much. Neither does ChatGPT.

πŸ‘‰ One of those words is "LEARN."

Yup. LEARN.

You ever tell anyone to go and "Learn More" as a call to action?

If you have, it's okay β€” you didn't know! But "learn" is one of those words that makes our lizard brains subconsciously think, "Learn?? I don't want to learn right now. Yuck."

So then your reader doesn't move forward. To go to your sales page. To read more about you. To join your membership. To buy your thing.

And then that's it. The customer journey stops there.

All because you used the word "LEARN."

Now... does this mean that NOBODY will click on a button that says "LEARN MORE"?

No, of course not. But you want as many people as possible to click on your shtuff, so why use a word that is proven to get lower conversion rates?

And with the average click rate at 1-2%, well... you want as many people as possible to click on your call to action. Just sayin'. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I'm sharing an entire list of friction words β€” plus 11 more pro copywriting tips β€” in a free mini course I created called "12 Days of Writing Effective Copy."

These are short, digestible emails I'm sending out every other day, starting on December 1st. But I'm not sending them to my entire list.

You'll only get these 12 secret copywriting tips if you OPT IN by clicking here.

If you're already a professional copywriter or have taken courses inside prestigious copywriting programs, you'll probably find this stuff redundant.

But if you've been DIYing your copy (or letting ChatGPT do it), then these 12 emails are going to give you the copywriting knowledge you need to make more sales online β€” without having to invest a ton o' time (and zero monies!).

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 34 Estimated read time: 4-5 minutes Us Rochester folk may not have any major league baseball, pro football or premium hockey teams playing inside our city, but boy do I love going to Rochester Red Wings games over the summer. (That's our Triple A baseball team.) Well, at least *I* used to love going to the Rochester Red Wings games. That all changed yesterday. YESTERDAY I LOST IT, Reader! I don't know if they got a new music director or what, but I don't...

Hey hey heyyyy! Thank you for your interest in the Speak Easy Society, which is essentially my vision to gather Rochester women together who are ready to do any or all of the following: Share their story with others (without fear of judgment) Shed their fear of speaking in front of others Step into the courage to say what they're thinking Speak their vision or dream into existence Connect with and support other women who are done hiding or playing small Ready to make their speaker dreams come...

The Real Deal Digest Issue No. 33 Side note: I wrote 80% of this newsletter a few weeks ago. Then I set it aside because I wanted to write about something else… then Mr. Zuck-F*ck announced his newest enshittification of Instagram this past week, so what I wrote has become relevant again. And yes. There will be a bit more cursing than normal in this edition of The Real Deal Digest. If that makes you uncomfortable, you are always welcome to unsubscribe. πŸ˜‰ Yesterday, with great hesitation, I...
